The End Of A Decade And I Am Sharing My Favorite Movies And Television Shows

I have enjoyed film over the past decade. The way technology has catapult how we watch movies is magnificent. Let me tell you the ways and means of the accessibility of being able to access my favorite shows or movies is nothing less than remarkable. Streaming services ensure that ever possible movie and film is available in the palm of our hands. Frankly, I could not be more happier.

Truth be told, there were a lot of movies and T.V. shows available. There were quite a few that only went for one or two seasons. Nonetheless, they were still entertaining. Below are list of movies and t.v. shows that I have watched and loved over the past 10 years. These are listed in no particular order.

My Top 10 HBO Series Ranked By My Viewing Favorites Compared To IMDb’s List By Rating

I love good writing and acting. I love the art and science behind motion pictures. I’m a fan of great directors, actors, and cinematographers that steal your breath and plant possibilities deep in your thoughts. I’m a sucker for intense betrayal and raging twist plunged in storytelling. My favors are not driven by the Nielsen ratings or IMDb, though some of my favorites are probably proportional in ranking to those listings. Great shows rank high for a reason, because viewers keep coming back season after season for the plot, story, and a infectious storytelling that’s relatable or believable.

Below Is My Top 10 HBO Series Of All Time. I Hope You Agree, These Are Some Of The Best Of HBO.

April 14, 2019 – Game Of Thrones, Season 8 Is Here – Check Out Past Moments From Season 6 And 7

HBO has been airing all the previous seasons of Game of Thrones over the past week. Season 7 Episode 7 will flow into the last hour before the start of S8 at 9pm. S8 is all about The Great War. The war between the living and the dead has arrive. The enemy in the south is still active as well, let’s not forget. In the meanwhile, let’s look back because GOT had some of the best power movements in S6 and S7. I’ve shared a few of my favorites.

Here Are Some Of My Favorite Powerful Moments From S6 And S7 Of Game Of Thrones

We Are One Day Away From Game Of Thrones Season 8, If You Are A Fan It’s Probably Like Christmas Time

It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for Season 8 (S#) of Game of Throne. It’s been well over a year since Season 7, Episode 7 last aired on August 27, 2017. Me and most of my family and friends have re-watched every season at least twice. The madness is real! The anticipation and discussions on social media about plausible outcomes for S8 have been intense. Who will live and who will die, spearheads the discussions topics. Yes, there will be deaths and probably outcomes that will surprise the fans.

Game of Thrones has never disappointed with delivering shocking endings and I don’t expect to change with S8. I suspect that some fans will be mad and others will deem the outcome as reasonable. There has been so much material delivered in each of the previous seasons. I promise there are messages that were missed. It’s the reason people have watched season over and over again.

There Are Certain Deaths Or A Death That Must Happen In Season 8 To Appease The Fans

To the many watchers it’s probably obvious who must die. If it’s not, then allow me to tell you. Cersei has to go! If anyone has earned a cruel death it’s her. Cersei is the daugher of Tywin. She married King Robert Baratheon when she was a younger woman. She also maintains a constant sexual relationship with her twin brother, whom she her three children by. In other words none of her kids belong to King Robert.

Jamie should probably follow since he always supported her madness. I would like to give him the benefit by saying he’s not as smart as her and was probably manipulated with talks of family and loyalty along the way. She’s not as smart as she thinks she is and I believe her father, Tywin, said this to her on a episode. Cersei has brought into this thought that everyone is her enemy. After everything that she’s done, it’s the proper assessment. The fact that she has sex with her brother and all of her children have been by her and not the King Robert who she married, makes her the lowest person amongst the high born.

Honestly, I will be satisfied if this is the only death that comes out of S8. In reality, I suspect that there will be more. I’m prepared…at least I hope I’m ready.

My Favorite Characters From Previous Seasons Who Are Not Main Characters And They Are Still Alive…YES!

Game of Thrones has provided us with a multitude of characters in previous episodes. They have not always been main characters or have large pivotal moments like Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister, Jamie Lannister, Arya Stark. But, they play second and even sometimes third to the main characters. If third is a possible position to play in film. The are above extras, but not main. Nevertheless, they have been dynamic in their roles and memorable. That’s just what great actors do in any position. So here are a few of my favorite characters from previous episodes and episodes to come.

Lady Mormont – The Lady Of Bear Island

Courtesy of GIPHY

You must be as fierce and courageous as Lady Mormont. The Lady of Bear Island refuses to sit on the sidelines and let anyone else do her fighting. What do we know about her? When she was first introduced in S5, via a Raven, she was only ten. The raven Stannis had received from the Lady of Bear Island read “We only know one King in the North, and his name is Stark“. In other words, Stannis was a Baratheon of House Baratheon. I say was because …spoiler, if you have never seen Game of Thrones, Stannis was killed in S5 by Brienne Tarth. The Lady of Bear Island, in her words “Commands a small house, but a proud house”. She serves for a Northern house whose loyalty belongs to the King in the North. This means her people swore fealty to the Great House in the North, House Stark.

Ser Davos

No matter what king Ser Davos serves, he is guaranteed to make you chuckle. He doesn’t try to be funny, but he is. The jump from serving Stannis, who in my opinion was proper fool to Jon Snow hopefully means his making better decisions, faster for a far better king.

Lady Brienne of Tarth

Lady Brienne prefers not to be called a lady, but she is one by nobility. Brienne, like Arya Stark, prefers swords to dress. She prefers to be fighting in a battle versus being shield, in a room full of ladies during the battle. She is darn good with her sword.

Samwell Tarly

Courtesy of GIPHY

Samwell Tarly of House Tarly is not like his brother Dickon, who is a swordsman. He’s not the most courageous like his father, Randyll Tarly. Hell, he’s not as courageous and handy with a sword like Brienne and Arya. Sam is smart. He knows the value of information and he came from the southern portion of Westeros. This area is known as the Reach. He may seem fidgety around women, but he know pretty girls.

Sam’s father sent him to the Night’s Watch at Castle Black in S1. In the end, if Sam survives the The Great Battle in S8, House Tarly is his, though his father took all his inheritance away because Sam is not a Military Man, he is the apple of his mother’s eye. Sam is smart, and with all the information hidden in the Citadel in Oldtown, the show needs smart if they are going to defeat the White Walkers and The Army of the Dead.

Missandei Former Slave

Courtesy of GIPHY

Missandei was a slave during her time in Astapor. She served as an interpreter for her masters. Once Daenerys freed the slaves, as a free woman she stayed with Daenerys Targaryen and now freely servers as her trusted adviser. Missandei is beautiful, fluent in different languages, and smart. This can be accredited to the time she spent in the company of her masters. Missandei was born in Naath, located in the Summer Sea or Summer Islands. She was taken from her home when she was young girl. Now, she stands by side Daenerys. She has also, probably found love for the first time her in life and it is with Grey Worm who serves in the Unsullied Army.

These are a few of my favorite characters over the course of S1 – S7 of Game of Thrones. Each and everyone have small pivotal roles that they play to the people they serve and to their friends they made over time. If you have never watched an episode of GOT, it is not disappointing in any form.

An Illustrious Journey – The Originals

Fans are still coping with the ending of the The Originals, 24 hours after the final episode aired on August 1. The finale left me with mixed emotions. I watched it again this morning-before work. I required assurance that I understood and could embrace the outcome…Spoiler: Elijah and Klaus both dying, was not what I expected.

the-originals

Elijah, Hayley, Marcel, Klaus and Rebekah

Perspective

Season 5 was not what many fans expected, but it was a good season nonetheless. I was more shocked by Hayley’s death than I was about Klaus’ death. I was more sad about Josh and Elijah’s death than any other death through the entire life cycle of the The Originals.  I love the bond between Elijah and Klaus. It was more than Always and Forever.  They had an understanding…a, I am my brothers keeper until the end and beyond relationship. Imagine being so close to someone you love, that you tie your existence to theirs. My friends, that is Klaus and Elijah.

Elijah revealed to Klaus, that Klaus’ redemption was the center of what he has live for over the past thousand years.  And, now that has redeemed himself, it would be an honor to be by his side as bothers in the afterlife. Wherever the afterlife takes them….peace or darkness, they will go as they have always…together.

The Hope of the Family

Hope, the daughter of Hayley, a werewolf and Klaus, the hybrid. Hope’s existence is a fictional miracle in terms of the show. She was the reason for Klaus redemption. Hope is the daughter Klaus loves unconditionally, something the family though would never be possible. Hope is heir…his legacy.

The Siblings that Made it to the End

Rebekah, the younger sister of Klaus was always supportive and rebellious of her bother. In the end, they embraced in an enveloping hug.  Klaus let her know when she was ready, there was a cure in Mystic Falls for her, which Caroline procured. A cure that would give her back, what she had been robbed of…her human life.  Klaus’ apologized to his sister for standing in her way through the course of their vampire life, when all she wanted was a human life and to love…have her own family.  He gave her, his blessings and with that they embraced both knowing they would hopeful see each other in another life time.

Kol is the brother that Klaus would dagger a lot less than Finn, but more than Elijah and Rebekah. Kol resisted for a couple of scenes during episode 13 last evening. When it counted, when the family…the siblings came together he fashionable showed up with booze and his choices words. Bonded by blood and despite murderous sibling rivalry through out their thousand years, these siblings loved each other and swore a vow of Always and Forever.

Freya is the older sister that died…but, she did not. Esther, the mother told Mikael, the father that Freya had died by the plague when he went off hunting.  In truth, Freya was offered up the Esther’s sister Dahlia as payment for casting a dark spell, which allowed Ester to have children.  See Season 2 of The Originals for Freya’s story. Fast-forward to S5 and she is family.  Freya fought and won the hearts of siblings. Niklaus took more convincing because of his paranoia. Freya over the course of the show found love with Keelin and they married in S5 EP11. She has the shortest time with Elijah and Klaus…the total siblings. She fought tirelessly to solve any supernatural issue that occurred. Her happiness with Keelin, with words from Elijah and Rebekah encouraging her to embark on happiness was something she finally embraced.

The Others

Who are the others…well it is Marcel who Klaus collected when he was a young boy and raised him as his son. Marcel the love of Rebekah’s life and she the love of his life. Marcel is family, and Klaus is his sire and father.  Marcel, respects Klaus and Elijah’s decision to end their lives. Klaus, to save his daughter Hope, who Marcel considers his sister.

Then, there is Caroline. Caroline and Klaus’ path crossed during The Vampire Diaries. Let’s just say, Caroline is the love that fans was hoping Klaus would live and build a life with in Mystic Falls.

Fade to Tears

In the end, Klaus made the ultimate sacrifice to save his daughter, but he had to end his life, so the dark magic would not consume him. Klaus’ death was acceptable. We understood that he did what we hope all fathers would do, if the circumstances presents itself and that is die for their child and save the lives of their siblings to protect them from the dark magic that would drive a supernatural creature insane.

Elijah’s death has taken more time to accept because at the inception echoed vampire suicide.  Is that such a thing, if he was already dead?  Well, that is what I asked myself. After, watching the finale again and again…listening ever so carefully at Elijah’s reason for deciding to die by this brothers side…I get it. He’s purpose was accomplished and he too would move on into the next life.  Elijah called it, “redefining Always and Forever“.
